Drake gets pushed back.....again

When you think about Drake, what do you think of. He had one of the best mixtapes of the year. He's been co-signed by some of the hottest rappers in the game (including Jay-z). He's signed to Lil wayne's Young Money record label. He was named one of GQ's men of the year. And just recently he was nominated for a grammy. I could go on, but that list alone is amazing for a guy who doesn't even have an album out yet. And thats the problem for this young dude. HE DOESN'T HAVE AN ALBUM OUT. And due to the ever grownig trend of album push backs, it doesn't look like it will be dropping until atleast march of next year. Drakes Debut album "Thank me Later" has been pushed back for a third time. First it was scheduled to come out in January of 2010. Then It got pushed back to February 14. And now just recently, Drake spoke to MTV news and said that the album won't be coming out until March.

This whole trend of artists getting albums pushed back is getting on my last damn nerves. Just drop the damn album. I think the longer and longer the fans have to wait, people are gonna get restless and not bother with you anymore.

Personally, I feel that drakes album should have been out a long time ago. But the thing that messed him up was signing with young money. He is probably gonna end up in the same situation as my boy Curren$y. He's gonna be down with the label for a few years without an album and then just go indie. Curren$y did it and look at him now. Drake already had a huge fanbase before, he messed up by signing with a major label.

This World is Crazy!!!

If you are a reader of this site then you know that I usually dont make posts on anything negative. But this next one right here had to be posted, just to show everybody just how crazy the world still is. Pay Attention.....

I heard this one through the grapevine from the good people over at allhiphop.com. Apparently, a few days ago in philly a school counselor died of a heart attack. Ok, that does'nt sound too bad, all things considered but it gets worse. This man died while he was in the emergency at the hospital. I REPEAT, HE DIED IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM. These people made my man wait 83 min (yes 83 min) to be helped on a life or death emergency. Thats ridiculous by all standards, but there is one more crazy layer to the story. Apparently while this 63 year old school counselor was left to die in the waiting room, three homeless crackheads roamed in and robbed him.

Ok so lets recap:

- 63 year old school counselor dies of heart attack

- School teacher died in emergency room after being left to wait for 83 minutes

- While essentialy left to die in emergency, school teacher is robbed by 3 homeless crackheads

I know philly is rough but damn man. That right there is inexcusuable. It just goes to show that no matter where you are, the world is still f'ed up.

My condolences go out to the Family of Joaquin Rivera. He not only was a school counselor but a musician and activist in the Latino community of philadelphia. He left behind a wife and three children.

Fly Spotligh: Tyga

Welcome to another edition of the spotlight. This week I bring you one of the most slept on artists in hip-hop. He goes by the name of Tyga and he is dope. He's been in the game for a few years now, but for some reason he is not getting his shine. And this is inspite of the fact that he has been cosigned by the hottest rapper in the game Lil Wayne* and his Young Money label. You may remember the California native from his debut single from a few years back, "Coconut Juice" (click the link to watch the video). But to be quite honest, that song was horrible and it didn't really show off his true talent. I've been following this guys career since then and he hasn't disappointed yet. I have all of his mixtapes, and each one is different from the last. It seems like he gets more and more diverse with his skills everytime he drops one. And the best thing about him is that he's fly and he's different. This guy has a very soulful sound and I'm really digging it. When he sings, he kinda reminds me of Bilal from back in the day. Welcome to another edition of the fly spotlight. Usually when i bring you a spotlight artist, The are usually hip-hop. But this time around I'm switching it up. This week I'm bringing you some R&B with a young lady by the name of Dondria. And I'm telling you now, this girl can sang. That's right, not sing but sang...lol. She's out of Texas and she is down with so so def records. Now the way she got a deal was different from a lot of people. She didn't send out demos or win some contest, she actually put in work and earned her deal. She did her thing on youtube and put herself out for the world to see. Every week she posted videos of herself covering other peoples songs and eventually  it paid off. Jermaine dupri saw some of her videos, heard her voice, and the rest is history. Beanie Sigel is going to G-Unit

Yes Ladies and gentlemen, you read that right. Beanie Sigel is going over to G-unit. The announcement was made just yesterday (nov. 3). But apparently this was supposed to happen along time ago. According Beans, the deal was actually put together for him to go over to g-unit after he did his 1 year jail sentence a few years back. But beans said that Jay-Z blocked the deal and kept him from moving on. And that was confirmed by 50 cent himself. 50 says he put $800,000, Thats right $800,000 to sign beans but Jay blocked the deal. Now as I said beans is going over to G-unit, and that woudld be a very good look for him. I'm not that big of a fan of g-unit anymore, but with beans it adds a whole new dimension to the label. Plus beans would now be in a position to get his own money. This is a huge story in hip-hop, and me posting on it is just the tip of the iceberg. Check the two links below to get the whole story.....

In the midst of all that is going on with him, Wayne has yet again managed to put out a dope mixtape. Now don't get it twisted, this isn't the same Lil Wayne you heard on dedication pt. 1 & 2 or the drought series. In my personal opinion, he's almost back to his old self on this but I think its missing something, maybe its just me. I'm not hating, I'm just speaking the facts. But don't get me wrong, it's a hot mixtape. I hope Wayne continues to do music this way as opposed to the autotune foolishness that we hear nowadays. Beanie Sigel vs Jay-Z

Say it aint so hip-hop. When I heard about this next bit of news i was shocked and you will be too. Apparently Beanie Sigel is going at Jay-Z on the beef tip. That's right, that is not a typo. Beans is going at Jay-Z. I'm still getting updates on the story, but this is how it is so far...
A few days ago (October 25th) beans had some words for Jay at a concert in philly. Apparently beans was going in on Jay about some verses on the intro to the blueprint 3.  But just yesterday (October 30th) Siegel released a diss track tittled "Average Cat" and on the record, beans air out all he has about Jay. Personally I am a fan of both beans and Jay, and I hope this is just something small like beans says at the end of the diss. I would hate for these two to go at each other. Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to another edition of the fly spotlight. This week I bring you "The Best Rapper you've never heard of", Kel Spencer. He comes out of Brooklyn, New York and has very dope music. I have been a fan of his for a while now, and every song I've listened too has been worth it. But with all of the music he has put out, that wasn't what drew me in as a fan. It was his work ethic that did it for me. This guys hustle game is serious. Its hard not to go anywhere without finding his music. He's on myspace, facebook, twitter, tagged, youtube, and pretty much any other Internet site you can think of. Every year GQ magazines announces its man of the year award. Previous winners have included President Barack Obama, and Lupe Fiasco. But this year GQ did things a little different. Fly Spotlight: Add-2

This week I bring to you Add-2. This Guy is a young MC out of Chicago and the boy is dope. I only just recently stumbled upon this guys music, courtesy of the good people at fake shore drive. The new wave of hip-hop that is coming through radios and speakers around the world is turning out some good music, and this dude is no exception. His sound is unique, and it just adds to (lol) the ever growing hip- hop scene of Chicago. I say that he is unique, because I don't really have a way to describe him. The only thing I could say is that he kinda reminds me of a Lupe Fiasco, but he does it in his own way. He's a fresh talent and I look forward to hearing more of his work. Now, like I said I only just started listening to his music, but I'm already a fan. Ora Wristwatch

Ok, this by far has to be the sickest watch I have ever seen in my life. Just look at it and tell me it isn't fly as hell. This is a very creative concept. The watch completely outdoes the traditional time piece by going a totally different way on how we tell time. Greek Designer Alexandros Stasinopoulos has taken the concept of measuring tape, to measure time. The watch itself has three separate measuring belts one for hour, minute, and day. Each band overlaps adding another dimension to an already amazing looking piece. Take a look, at the close up of the watch along with the other colors. Very Fly....
